THE city government fell short of its target with only 75,476 residents during the Bayanihan Bakunahan National Vaccination Days from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1.

The city government was targeting to inoculate 47,000 residents a day during the period, but  Dr. Michelle Schlosser, COVID-19 Task Force spokesperson said that only a few people visited the vaccination sites even when the city government was prepared as it had resources and was supported by the private sector.

“Tanang lakang naa nata. Naa man ang suporta sa local nga gobyerno sa Davao, naa pud tay logistics human resource para sa vaccination rollout nato. Naay mga tao nagtinabangay kauban ang councilors nato, vice mayor’s office and all of the public and private sector. This boils down to the cooperation sa bawat isa sa atoa, sa mga tao mismo,” Schlosser said even as she noted that people were still hesitant to get vaccinated

She added that the city government has been trying to entice the people to get vaccinated so that the city can achieve its herd immmunit target. “Gina-enganyo nato ang mga tao nga ipalawak nila ang ilang kaalaman regarding sa vaccination aron makab-ot nato 100 percent ang herd immunity, this cannot be done without the help and cooperation of people,” she added.

The city government has been trying to conduct information campaign to address the refusal of the people to get vaccinated because of the influence of misinformation. Schlosser said the city government has been consulting with leaders, including those of indigenous villages in hinterland barangays, to ensure that more people will get inoculated.
