EXCEPT for some areas where there is a need for more passenger jeepneys, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) said the resumption of in-person classes yesterday was smooth.
Col. Alberto Lupaz, DCPO chief, told the Davao City Disaster Radio that his office has deployed personnel to “to provide security (to schools) and *help traffic direction and control” as some schools have resumed in-person classes two years after the onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Everything is going smoothly as of this time,” said Lupaz, adding that the city police has continued to monitor the situation.
He confirmed that there were some areas where public utility vehicle passengers were having a hard time finding transportation to their destinations due to the smaller number of passenger jeepneys.
He said the office is ready to assist schools even as he urged them to ensure that minimum public health standards are observed.
“The Davao City Police Office will always be there to help them,” he said.
In a related development, Jenielito Atillo, Department of Education regional spokesperson, welcomed the holding of in-person classes , although he said many schools are still using the hybrid learning system like the use of modules.
“Sa Nobyembre 2, mao na gyud na ang gitakna nga adlaw para sa full implementation sa face-to-face learning modality. Wala na gyud laing learning modality ang ipahiluna dinha,” Atillo said as he urged everyone to stay on alert against COVID-19, saying safety is a shared responsibility.
