Floods did not cause  major damage | official

THE severe floodings and intense rains did not cause any major damages on key infrastructure facilities, the City Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) said Tuesday.

In a phone interview, Alfredo Baloran, CDRRMO chief, said heavy rains, which started a week ago, and floods affected barangays.

The Dava River and those in Talomo, Lasang, Bunawan all overflowed, affecting several areas.

Baloran identified the barangays as Tugbok Proper, Purok 6-A , Purok 17-A, and Purok 17-B in Brgy 5A, Purok 8A and Purok 10 in Barangay 9-B, almost Jade Valley Subdivision in Tigatto and Taal 1 in Bangkal in Talomo Proper, Brgy Matina Crossing at the Matina Gravahan, Maa, Don Julian, Riverview, San Antonio Bacaca, 19-B, and Dapsa area in Brgy Mandug. This also included Purok 9 and Sitio Libas in Barangay Waan and Sitio Balite in Brgy 9-A, Sitio Camelia and Purok 10 Muslim community area, and Lasang.

In an interview with the Davao City Disaster Radio, Baloran said about 2,600 families were affected, although the actual number was to come from the City Social Services and Development Office.

Baloran added that most families had returned to their homes.

 He has also reminded those living in danger zones to find new places to build their shelter.
